Need copy of the RIPscrip 2.0 spec

Post by kparadine » Thu Mar 31, 2011 4:29 pm

Anyone know where one could be found? I have a copy of 1.53 and 1.54.

Thank you.

In the files section Rip 1.54 resides in two parts.

Check out the Graphics part of our files section. There is a ton of Rip and Ansi editors along with pre made screens.

You are looking for RIPterm Pro 2.00.01 I can't seem to locate it.

Maybe Craig can let us know if he has the files. If so, we need to upload it to this area so others might see it and use it even if it's crippled.

I was looking more for the spec, but I can probably reverse engineer it if I have a working implementation.

I'm doing a little coding and I want to see how it all works, and RIP is the current topic.

Take a look at:

http://www.slbbs.com/files/graphics/ripscrip.zip

And I found that we do have Rip 2.1 on the site. check out http://www.slbbs.com/files/graphics/rpnt2100.zip

You were looking for version 2.0 but we do have V2.1 for download.

I think I found the answer. They never released the 2.0 spec. It was available for $$$ but they didn't publically release it, claiming they would eventually. Eventually never came. That's why RIP died.

1.54 was the last publically available spec.

Does this mean you are going to field your own BBS?

I'm starting with a BGI renderer for Windows, since RIP used those fonts. BGI fonts were something Borland distributed as part of Turbo Pascal and C and their derivatives. It's something unfortunately necessary, but also pretty simple.

Have a look at Cyterm (Delphi) on Torry's Delphi site. The author put quite a few RIP compatibility methods in the package. This includes BGI stuff and yes, old Borland loadable 8x8(?) BGI font emulation. Quite nice freeware for this kinda stuff.
