Re: Adding nodes using wslbbs

I don't think there's a way to change your telnet port, although you could use your firewall to map a different external port to port 23. A better bet is to use NETFOSS and NET2BBS or GAMESRV as your telnet front-end to SLBBS. Much better comm routine support than SL's built in telnet capabilities p...

Not sure, but this is on my list of things to test once I get fdsz working properly.

Re: Phew!

Still here! Kind of playing around with Searchlight again inside of a Hyper-V box to see about the viability of putting something public facing back up. Synchronet has everything a modern day BBS aficionado could possibly want, but to me, it lacks in the look and feel. I'm also not a developer, so u...

Re: The slbbs.com is the longest running BBS support

As long as I have a means to do so, I will always keep the site up and running.

I wish there were more that could be done with it, but the lack of source code kind of makes that a show stopper!

Re: Might have to migrate my SLBBS over to this!

Looks like it's running Commodore's custom Linux distribution called Commodore OS Vision. I wonder if there's any way to procure a copy of their distro and install it on some x86 hardware to see just what all it supports?

Happy Thanksgiving!

Just a quick note to wish everyone a very happy Thanksgiving coming up next week. I know there hasn't been much traffic at all in the forums, but some of us are still out here!

Take care,
Chris

Re: installing SL in Dosbox

You're right inasmuch as it has to be fixed, if not for running the BBS, but for running multiplayer doors. They all need direct SHARE support with real multisession file locking or software just won't work in a multiuser environment. Otherwise, the only real solution is in fact Linux/dosemu. All t...

Re: New SLbbs online

I'd definitely consider using any provided ANSI screens! The BBS machine is actually a different machine, but I might be able to come up with something. I wish I could run it all on the same machine but Netfoss and Net2BBS haven't been the most stable applications in the world. Probably the nature o...

Re: New SLbbs online

There's a lot to be done - custom screens, changing the strings file, bulletins, new user logins explaining about the BBS - all in due time! To try to do what I can immediately, I posted a bulletin that new users can (hopefully) read so that they'll know it's just a matter of waiting until their acc...

Re: New SLbbs online

Chris, I just got word that one person, jas hud seems to have a problem with too low of a security level in order to see the games. Any ideas on this one? Daryl Yep, validation required in order to get into doors. Just a bump in the road to try to keep people from creating too many fake accounts so...
